Our web server automatically collects standard log data when you visit the Website. This may include:
- IP address
- Date and time of visit
- Pages visited and HTTP status codes
- Browser type and version (User-Agent)
- Referring URL
This data is collected for security, operational monitoring, and troubleshooting purposes. Server logs are retained for up to 7 days by our hosting provider (DreamHost) and then automatically deleted.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (security and site operations).
No Personal Data Collection
We do not operate user accounts, registration forms, contact forms, mailing lists, or any other mechanism that actively collects personal data. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information through this Website.
Cookies
Our Cookies
The only cookie set directly by this Website is:
- vasil-consent — stores your cookie consent preferences (set by the Klaro consent manager). This is a persistent cookie retained for up to 365 days.
Third-Party Cookies
This Website embeds content from third-party services that may set their own cookies only if you grant consent through our cookie consent banner (powered by Klaro):
- YouTube — Video embeds about the Vasil Hard Fork. YouTube may set cookies and process data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps — Interactive maps showing Ginkgo Grove locations. Google Maps may set cookies and process data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
These third-party embeds are blocked by default and only load when you explicitly consent.
Legal basis: Consent (for non-essential third-party cookies).
Proof of Tree dApp (Wallet Interaction)
Our Proof of Tree page allows you to connect a Cardano browser extension wallet (e.g., Eternl, Lace, Nami) to check whether you own any tree NFTs. This interaction is handled entirely client-side in your browser:
- Wallet connection is initiated by you through the CIP-30 wallet interface provided by your browser extension. We do not access your private keys, spending credentials, or any wallet functionality beyond reading your public UTxO data.
- NFT ownership check is performed locally in your browser by comparing publicly available UTxO data from your wallet against the known policy ID of the tree NFTs. No wallet addresses or blockchain data are transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Wallet preference — if you connect a wallet, the name of the wallet extension (e.g., "eternl") is saved in your browser's
localStorageso it can auto-reconnect on your next visit. This is stored locally on your device only and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time by disconnecting your wallet or clearing your browser's local storage.
International Data Transfers
When you consent to YouTube or Google Maps embeds, your data may be transferred to and processed by Google in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and applies Standard Contractual Clauses as safeguards for international transfers. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.
